Killarney Regatta 1891

In 1891 Killarney Regatta was held off Innisfallen on Wednesday 26th August under most favourable weather conditions and the racing was excellent due in no small measure, to the efforts of a most efficient committee.

The attendance was very large and great numbers of tourists were among the spectators. Every race was hotly contested much to the delight of the spectators.

The first event on the programme was a sailing race for a valuable cup. The race started from a line between Ross Castle and the Regatta pontoon of Innisfallen, round O'Donoghue's Prison around Mouse Island around the buoy of Brickeen Bridge and around the buoy of Tomies finish between marks laid down at start - distance five miles.

Pig and Pole, horse marina and an exhibition of fireworks brought the evening's entertainment to a conclusion.
