1967: FOSSA TAKE SENIOR TITLE AT REVIVED REGATTA

After a lapse of five years, Killarney Regatta was revived on Sunday, July 30th, on the O'Mahony's Point course and the men from Fossa distinguished themselves on the day.

Coxed by Robin Hilliard, they won the senior sixes and the senior fours in brilliant style, and might also have gained the honours in the junior and juvenile sixes but for rank bad luck. They broke an oar in the race and an oarlock in the other. Did this prevent Fossa from being adjudged the best club of the Regatta?

As it was, Fossa had to be satisfied with second place as Commercials beat them in overall points.

Commercials finished very good winners in the junior sixes and junior fours and were placed second in both of the senior races.

The ladies race proved very exciting, with St. Mary's coming from behind to snatch the verdict from Flesk Valley.

In the juvenile race, Flesk Valley were also relegated to second place. They put in a very strong challenge, but St. Brendan's had that little extra bit of power at the finish to hold Fossa.
